University payable at campus branch along with a request for the application
form.
REGISTRATION FEE: Rs.300/- (SC/ST: Rs.150/-) (A Separate
Registration Fee has to submit by the applicant)
COURSE FEE: Rs.20,000/- (For each Semester)

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Division of Health Management of School of Medical Education,
M.G.University aims at the improvement in quality of Health through
better management of Health care and related programmes. It seeks to accomplish
this through health management research, training, consultation and networking
in a regional, national and global perspective.
The division offers two year full time Post graduate programmes in Hospital Administration (MHA) and Public Health(MPH). These courses which are unique in the respective disciplines, have the distinction of being the only courses of their kind offered directly by a university department all over South India. Both the programmes are designed specifically to prepare health management professionals for major leadership positions in health care systems through inter disciplinary, problem oriented and student centered training.
The division has ongoing links with major hospitals and various governmental, semi-governmental and private organizations working in the health sector. Students of our division have also been able to attract project funds from international organizations like the WHO. We are committed to instilling confidence in our students enabling them to exercise full strategic leverage within their working environment.
The division of health management under the school aims at the improvement of quality health through better management of health care service and related programmes. The divisdion offers two year full time Post Graduate degree programmes in HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION (MHA) and PUBLIC HEALTH ADMINISTRATION (MPH) with an intake capacity of 20 students in each programme.
MASTER
OF HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION (MHA) PROGRAMME
The current changes in the health care scenario necessitated the
requirement of specially trained professionals in the field of health care
administration. The modern hospital has to play a vital role in the health and
social welfare programmes which influence the economic development of the
country. Competition is tough and inorder to excel, personnel with high
potential is a basic requirement. The hospitals require, competent personnel who
takes things in their stride and assist the medical staff in rendering quality
care. The thrust areas include hospitral operations management, personnel
management, finance management, materials management, public relations, hospital
service marketing, hospital information system, quality assurance, medical law
and ethics, basic medical sciences, medical records management, hospital
facilities and equipment planning, organization and management of various
clinical and support services etc.
The MHA course provides high quality education to students, which enable them to develop perceptive, analytical, managerial and humanistic skills. The students are groomed through problem oriented and student centered training, extension and counseling programmes along with concurrent placement in hospitals. These develop management competency to effectively deal with problem of quality, availability, accessibility, uncertainity, comprehensiveness, cost reduction and productivity in health system.
MASTER
OF PUBLIC HEALTH (MPH) PROGRAMME
Improvement in health systems performance can be facilitated by
training adequate number of management personnels including public health
specialists, policy analysts, health care administrators and drug management
specialist. Many countries are exploring and implementing these
multidisciplinary public health training programmes. An innovate example is the
Union School of Public Health in Beijing, Peoples Republic of China established
in 1989. To stimulate the public health training programmes in the entire
country, this institute invites scholars from various disciplines including
health, economics, management, social, biological, environmental and other
related subjects.
This programme has been designed to focus on the acquisition of knowledge and skills applicable to career in Public Health, Health Education and development for catalyzing the health for all revolution. Upon completion of the programme, the scholar will become an efficient administrator and a powerful executive. The programme imparts specialized skills and promotes conceptual and analytical understanding of arrangement within the unique circumstances prevailing in the health system in India.
The Master of Public health programme is designed to meet the ever increasing demand of professionally competent health management post graduate in organizations associated with health and development.
The training enables the
scholars to assume middle and senior level managerial and academic
responsibilities in a wide range of organizations and areas like hospitals with
community projects, voluntary agencies involve in Health and development,
International organization that assist or sponsor projects and programmes in
Health and Development, Industrial concerns maintaining community health
projects in schools and colleges as life style educationalist or health
education lectures or teachers, in the central and state health systems as
health educators, media officers, technical officers, project officers.
