Job Description:
Key areas of responsibility:
- Provides professional nursing care according to established standards and procedures.
- Responsible for administration of nursing programs by providing managerial skills needed in directing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating nursing care and the delivery of patient care.
Main Job Tasks:
- Financial Responsibilities
- Ensure that the expenses of nursing department are within the budget.
- Customer Responsibilities.
- Ensures that comprehensive care is given to each patient and evaluates the services rendered.
1. Prepares and reviews all protocols of Nursing staff Interaction with
Patients/customers.
2. Interacts with patients and accordingly ensures a pro-active patient
interaction and feedback system.
3. Is appraised of all in patient conditions and needs through interaction with
nursing team and staff.
4. Co-ordinates with the consultants to ensure that good nursing care is
provided.
Process Responsibilities :
Is responsible for the overall management of nursing areas.
1. Keeps up to date appraisal of unit capability and requirements.
2. Keeps an up to date knowledge of the unit and drug changes and instructs
staff of such changes.
3. Takes the necessary action to resolve nursing unit problems and needs, and
making the necessary changes in the policies and procedures after discussion
with the management.
4. Investigates reports of incidents, suspected infections, patient / doctor
complaints and resolves problems or makes recommendation for action.
5. Is responsible for authorizing the ordering of equipment and supplies
required by the unit.
Ensures compliance with accreditation standards.
Identifies appropriate internal controls for departments; provides mechanisms to
monitor and enforce compliance.
Ensures and enforces hospital infection control standards.
Ensures highest standards of ethical medical practices in the hospital.
People Responsibilities :
Takes responsibility for the nursing personnel.
1. Is responsible for on job orientation to nursing personnel and keeps them
informed of the philosophies, policies, and procedures to be followed in caring
for patients and their families.
2. Is responsible for continuous education/training of all nursing staff.
3. Evaluates the work performance of the staff.
4. Arranges and recommends vacation schedules for the staff.
5. Counsel staff on personal and work problems.
6. Plans staff work assignments and schedules.
Desired Candidate’s Profile
Profile Education: State Registered Nurse Midwife with (GNM/BSC) from
an approved nursing college.
Desirable: Additional professional nursing qualification such as ACLS.
Professional experience: More than 12+ years of nursing experience,
with more than 2 to 5 years of administrative experience.
Desirable: Has trained abroad.
Experience :12 – 15 years
Education Basic – Bachelor of Science ( Nursing )
